Introduction to PLC Basics
In the field of automation control, PLC is an important control device. At present, there are more than 200 manufacturers in the world producing more than 300 varieties of PLC products, which are used in automobile (23%), food processing (16.4%), chemical/pharmaceutical (14.6%), metal/mining (11.5%), pulp/paper ( 11.3%) and other industries. The development history of PLC
In the process of industrial production, a large number of switching quantities are controlled sequentially, which performs sequential actions according to logical conditions, and controls chain protection actions according to logical relationships, as well as a large number of discrete data collection. Traditionally, these functions have been achieved through pneumatic or electrical control systems. In 1968, the American GM (General Motors) Company proposed to replace the electrical control device. In the following year, the American Digital Company developed a control device based on integrated circuits and electronic technology. It is the first generation programmable controller, called Programmable Controller (PC).
After the development of personal computer (referred to as PC), for convenience and to reflect the functional characteristics of programmable controller, programmable logic controller was named Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). Now, PLC is still often referred to as PC.
