The IC698CPE030 is a 600 MHz CPU (Central Processing Unit) produced by GE Fanuc for the RX7i series. Select features of the IC698CPE030 include battery-packed user memory and non-volatile flash memory for data, bulk memory access, configurable data/program memory , and auto-located symbolic variables among others. This CPU supports Series 90-70 discrete and analog I/O, communications, and other modules, including VME modules.
This CPU comes with a Pentium-M microprocessor. It has 64 MB of both user memory and user flash. As an RX7i CPU, IC698CPE030 is configured to undertake control of processes and material handling structures in real time. The IC698CPE030 unit communicates with I/ O and smart option modules by way of a rack-mounted backplane using the VME64 standard format. To communicate with the programmer and different HMI devices, embedded Ethernet ports are used. A serial port using SNP Slave protocol can also be used for communication.
When powered, the IC698CPE030 begins a complete self-diagnostic check. During initialization, the LED lights will emit ON or OFF status in a specific sequence. Once the initialization process is finished, the OK LED light will blink and then turn on.
To avoid memory loss, routine maintenance steps should be initiated by the user. The lithium battery pack (part IC698ACC701) should be replaced as scheduled. This is important as the CPU’s battery maintains program and data memory. Additionally, it operates the calendar clock if power is lost.
This CPU comes standard with three isolated serial ports: RS-485 serial port, RS-232 serial port, and RS-232 Ethernet station manager serial port.
